As developers bicker in Neo-post-gentrified New York City, it’s being reported today that the Shoot the Freak attraction in Coney Island is one of nine on the boardwalk that will not have its lease renewed.  Shoot the Freak was a recessed lot on the boardwalk where for $5, a customer was supplied a paintball gun and some paint balls to fire at a live human target who halfheartedly ducked behind barrels and other “found items” used as barricades.  The best part of this attraction was the barking of the sharkish adolescent kids who ran the show… crude and real.  Interacting with them was worth the price of the balls.
